South Beach Festival Marketplace
Overview
South Beach Festival Marketplace is a schematic design for a public vendor market on Holiday Drive in South Beach, Nassau. A long, low timber pavilion runs parallel to the shore between the road and the water, bringing straw-market vendors, food stalls, and craft sellers together under one roof, while a fill-and-groyne strategy rebuilds the shoreline in front of it into a series of sheltered swimming coves.

Design Intent
The marketplace is conceived as an open pavilion rather than an enclosed mall. Round timber columns, exposed beams, and turquoise standing-seam roofs step rhythmically along the site, with landside and seaside decks that let vendors spill outdoors and shoppers move in shade from one end to the other. A raised entry portal carrying a Junkanoo mural marks the arrival from the parking court, and upper-level decks give dining and bar space open views over the water.
